For the sixth consecutive season, Western Albemarle was presented with the Jefferson District championship trophy after an impressive 20-stroke victory over runner-up Monticello, 317-337 on Monday at Lake of the Woods golf course.

Schuler shines as Warriors stay unbeaten

Schuler had a hand in all five of the Warriors’ touchdowns in the 34-21 win. He passed for four touchdowns and ran for another, racking up 267 passing yards.

Luray was able to catch visiting Madison County napping early Friday night, but the Mountaineers woke up in time to take a 28-20 win back over the mountain.

It took an entire half for the St. Anne’s-Belfield offense to get rolling, but once it got started, it was awfully tough to stop Friday night as the Saints defeated Trinity Episcopal 28-0 in their first home game of the 2009 season.

The Albemarle volleyball team got off to a slow start on Tuesday night, dropping the first game to Commonwealth District opponent Riverbend. The Patriots would rebound and take the next three games and eventually the match, 3-1 (23-25, 25-16,
25-20, 25-23).
