Virginia Tech senior cornerback Victor “Macho” Harris (sprained left foot) is listed as probable for tomorrow’s 1:30 p.m. home opener against Division I-AA Furman, according to Tech’s weekly injury report, released yesterday. On Tuesday, team trainer Mike Goforth said the chance of Harris playing appeared “promising.“

Harris suffered the injury Aug. 22 in Tech’s final preseason scrimmage and missed Saturday’s season opener against East Carolina. Sophomore Rashad Carmichael played in his place. It was Carmichael’s first career start.

Harris, a third-year starter from Highland Springs High, is expected to play a major role this season. He is Tech’s primary punt and kickoff return man, and the coaches plan to use him at wide receiver, Tech’s most inexperienced position.

The rest of Tech’s injury report:

Out: OT Blake DeChristopher (leg, kidney)

Probable: FB Devin Perez (foot)
