Neuhauser falls at Women’s Amateur

ST. LOUIS — Florida teen stars Alexis Thompson and Jessica Korda advanced to the U.S. Women’s Amateur quarterfinals, winning second- and third-round matches at Old Warson Country Club.
Thompson, the 2008 U.S. Girls’ Junior champion from Coral Springs, Fla., had a pair of 2-and-1 victories Thursday, beating Jodi Ewart and Cyna Marie Rodriguez. 
Whitney Neuhauser, a rising senior at Virginia and native of Barboursville, was eliminated from during the second round, falling to to Sydnee Michaels 3&2.
Neuhauser and Michaels were tied after 11 holes before Michaels took a three-shot advantage over the next four holes.
Neuhauser tied for 16th during the stroke play portion of the tournament and won her first round of match play Wednesday.
