Virginia sews up crown
The No. 1 Virginia men didn’t have their usual pep. UVa wound up beating No. 49 N.C. State, 5-2, to claim its fifth straight ACC regular-season championship, however, Cavalier coach Brian Boland didn’t seem very pleased about it.
Cavaliers take to Lake Monticello for regatta

Zoll drafted by LA in third round

WOMEN’S HOOPS: Zoll invited to WNBA draft
Sharnee Zoll, a former Virginia women’s basketball star, was invited to the WNBA Draft in Palm Harbor, Fla., at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Zoll was one of 20 players invited to attend the festivities, a direct sign of interest in the point guard following the professional league’s two-day pre-draft camp, which was held Friday and Saturday in Tampa.
FOOTBALL: Working out the kinks
The heir apparent at placekicker, Chris Hinkebein, had several kicks blocked while others sailed wide left and wider right. Issues with the operation, including botched holds with slippery footballs, also plagued the red shirt freshman’s afternoon, a recurring trend over the past few weeks, Groh confirmed Monday.

MEN’S LACROSSE: Giannone’s goal lifts UVa in OT
Thanks to great play in net from Bud Petit and a goal by Steve Giannone with 1 minute and 1 second left in overtime, No. 4 UVa shocked No. 6 UNC, 12-11. It was the third overtime victory by the Cavaliers this season.
