Live Arts Teen Theater Ensemble will draw from a wide variety of influences from visual and performing arts to present a tale of unlimited imagination in “This is Not a Pipe Dream” tonight through Feb. 18 at Live Arts.
Performances will be at 8 tonight, Saturday and Wednesday and 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
The cast includes Tiffany Ames, Elliot Craft, Daniel Neale, Courtney Sigloh and Scottie Wardell. Will Rucker is in the director’s chair.
The teens will be telling the story of surrealist painter Rene Magritte, who pursues his dream of depicting dreamlike, magic-realism imagery with his mother’s encouragement— and despite his father’s objections.
To tell Magritte’s story, Barry Kornhauser’s play takes inspiration from commedia dell’arte, farce, silent films and vaudeville. The show is suitable for all ages.
After the matinee performance at 2 p.m. Feb. 12, audience members can stay for talkback time.
Tickets are $16.50, and on Wednesdays, admission is on a pay-what-you-can basis. Friends of Live Arts get 10 percent off their ticket purchases.
