It’s almost time to unearth the performance side of “The Unearthing.”
The Living Education Center for Ecology and the Arts, Zen Monkey Project and Zap McConnell will present “The Unearthing” at 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the Ix Complex. The show can be seen through Feb. 12.
Dancers from Mexico and across the U.S. will take part in the interdisciplinary performance, which includes original dance, a site-specific sculpture installation featuring the work of 20 artists and a post-show salon in which audience members can discuss the show and view the art. Half of the proceeds from art sales will benefit Heartwood and I Love Mountains.
The performance follows a series of three workshops — one that dove into border and cultural identity issues, one dance master class and a third about destruction of mountain land in West Virginia.
The show will be performed in Mexico this spring as part of Performatica, an international dance festival.
Tickets are $20, $15 for seniors and students. Your ticket entitles you to a free drink from Al Hamraa after the show.
