A University of Virginia student had his leg run over when he was knocked down while trying to kick a passing taxi early Saturday, according to Charlottesville police.
The incident took place on the Corner just before 2 a.m., according to Charlottesville police Lt. Ronnie Roberts.
The student, who had been drinking, walked into University Avenue to try to hail the cab, Roberts wrote in an e-mail.
“The pedestrian encountered the cab at [its] midpoint and … kicked the side of the cab on the driver’s side, rear door,” Roberts wrote.
After falling and having his leg run over, the student was taken to the UVa Medical Center. No word was available on his condition or injuries.
Police are investigating the matter further.
