I was delighted to read the editorial "Giant leap for Nelson’s health care." What a blessing for so many people, thanks to the $5 million. from President Obama’s 2009 stimulus package. Many people rail against our government and our president in particular, forgetting all the good that has been and is being done by the stimulus package.
President Obama inherited from former President Bush a country on the verge of another Great Depression and one involved in two wars, one of which, Iraq, President Obama voted against entering when he served in the Senate. Our tax dollars go to provide for our neediest citizens, and those of us who enjoy a roof over our heads or a job or meals or health care, should be grateful enough to pay those taxes without complaint.
We ARE our government. It is not some monolithic entity existing in Washington, D.C. It is us, and we are all in this together. Truly that recognition is the spirit of Christmas and its message to us all.
