An Albemarle County man was honored at the White House last week for his website that tracks Virginia’s legislature.
Richmond Sunlight creator Waldo Jaquith was one of 16 people recognized at the June 10 Champions of Change event, which honored citizens who have created online applications that use data sets made available by governments.
Jaquith, who also works at the University of Virginia’s Miller Center of Public Affairs and runs a news blog, said there was time during the two-day event for the developers to directly address top officials about their projects.
Honorees at the June 10 event were nominated by the Center for Digital Government and Government Technology magazine. Champions of Change is a weekly White House program that honors citizens who make positive changes in their communities.
