Residents of Albemarle County are now eligible to register for disaster assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in relation to the August earthquake.
Officials are urging homeowners, renters and business owners who suffered damage from the Aug. 23 earthquake or its aftershocks to register for aid.

Also, FEMA announced this week that specialists will be at the Orange County Airport’s terminal building on Feb. 9 to answer questions about earthquake-related emergency funding.
FEMA will join with officials from the Small Business Administration and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management to answer questions about low-interest disaster loans in connection with damage caused by the magnitude-5.8 earthquake that struck Central Virginia.
Officials will meet the public at 11275 Aviation Way in Orange from 7 to 9 p.m.
Although most of the damage reported from the quake has been in Louisa County, especially in the Mineral area, the earthquake caused damage as far away as Washington, officials said.
Disaster assistance funds have been approved for residents of Culpeper, Fluvanna, Goochland, Louisa, Orange and Spotsylvania counties with individual assistance available for residents of Fredericksburg, officials said.
