“Fear Factor” causes fear and loathing. Deservedly.
By now you’ve probably heard about the stunt that was so “over the top,” as its host described it, that parent company Comcast pulled the episode.
Good, we’re glad you already know about it, because we’d hate to have to describe it. Let’s just say it involved the collection and consumption of several bodily fluids from a male donkey.
And this was to have appeared on a “mainstream” show, on a mainstream network.
The stunt was approved not only by the show’s executives, but by higher-ups at NBC. Only when NBC’s owner, Comcast, found out about the subject matter did saner minds prevail.
The stunt wasn’t just “over the top,” it was pornographic.
There are furtive Internet channels for that. “Mainstream” television is not the place, not the time, for such content.
