I was a staunch supporter of Gov. Bob McDonald. Now — not so much. I note that he has now endorsed Mitt Romney for president (with prodding by the Republican establishment, of course).
I can just see another presidential election debacle created by the powers-that-be in the Republican Party. (I sometimes think they are powers of the Democratic Party.) We were given the chance of John McCain in 2008. Wow! What a thrill! We all watched as he went down in flames without even putting up a decent battle against Barack Obama.
Now the establishment is pushing Mitt Romney on us. Wow! What a thrill! A liberal Massachusetts politician with plenty of money, but lacking conservative values.
I believe the Republican establishment — the “king makers” of the party — want us to lose again. Somehow this will make them richer and more powerful and further endear themselves to Obama, the liberal news media and the Democrats.
Failing another Ronald Regan, the best we seem to have is Newt Gingrich. He has the courage, intelligence and Washington savvy to mop the floor with Obama. Let’s give the establishment a thumbs down on Mitt.
