Gravel spill causes delays in county

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A transport truck caused some delays on Hydraulic Road Wednesday morning after it spilled gravel along stretches of the road, Albemarle County police said.

According to police, the truck was inspected and found to have 12 safety violations, including one that legally prevents it from being operated. County Sgt. Darrell Byers said that violation was a hole in the bed from which the gravel was spilling.

The truck was first spotted on Earlysville Road losing gravel from its bed, Byers said. The truck was eventually pulled over and taken for a commercial vehicle inspection. Byers said the county was coincidentally doing commercial vehicle inspections Wednesday as part of an expanded traffic safety initiative.
