Former Charlottesville Circuit Court clerk candidate Pam Melampy is listed in critical condition at the University of Virginia Medical Center after suffering an aneurism in her brain, Melampy’s cousin, Joni Shifflett, said Monday.

Melampy currently serves as a deputy clerk at Albemarle County Circuit Court. She ran as an independent candidate for clerk of court in the city last year after losing the Democratic Party nomination to Llezelle Dugger, who won the election.
