Two people suffered minor injuries and a portion of Scottsville Road was closed following a crash Monday, according to the Albemarle County Police Department.

The wreck occurred at 11:52 a.m. when the front tire of a dump truck traveling northbound blew out in the 2700 block of Scottsville Road, near Forest Road, police said.

The dump truck struck a 2008 Toyota Yaris that was traveling southbound.

Both vehicles traveled more than 50 feet into the woods, police said.

The dump truck hit a tree, trapping the driver inside the vehicle.

Police said both drivers were transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center with minor injuries.

A portion of Scottsville Road was closed for about an hour-and-a-half.
