A Fluvanna County couple has granted the Virginia Department of Forestry a conservation easement on more than 200 acres, the first easement given to the state from the county.
Robert and Graciela Lum agreed to the easement, combining 11 parcels south of Palmyra and providing for no more than two future divisions of the property, limiting its development.
The easement makes an even two dozen given to the department since 2011, for more than 8,000 acres statewide. The state has had fewer than 20,000 acres go into easements in five years.
