Dave Norris, Charlottesville’s present mayor, is up for nomination by the city Democratic Party as a candidate for the fall council elections.
One has only to look at his proven performance of exemplary leadership in meeting the challenges presented over the past three years to know that voting for him will ensure continued progress.
The vision statement by City Council in Fall 2007 identified key goals for making the city an even bter place to live and work. Stating that vision and being able to implement it are two different things.
However, Dave Norris has been an outspoken, and forward-thinking councilor and mayor who has moved the city closer to achieving those goals and has followed a strategy to make it greener, improve affordable housing, revitalize public housing and ensure environmental sustainability.
Working with Charlottesville Parks and Recreation, he has improved city parks, and he has supported the concept and vision to create a botanical garden at McIntire Park, which will enhance residents’ enjoyment and appreciation of nature, promote environmental educational programs, support economic development, increase tourism and guarantee that future generations have an outstanding park system for all to enjoy.
Dedicated leaders like Dave Norris deserve continued support.
