An open letter to Ken Cuccinelli, Virginia attorney general
Dear Ken,
I want to commend your efforts to identify errors in the work of climatologist Michael Mann when he was a professor at the University of Virginia. Climate change is a highly complex subject requiring years of study and research to gather and evaluate immense quantities of data from many different kinds of measurements. It’s great that your office is going to help the climate scientists straighten it out.
Especially in a time of limited state revenues, why waste scarce resources fighting violent crime when you can go after scientists publishing data that Republicans find inconvenient?
I’m sure that the rapists, drug dealers, hit men and other criminals in Virginia join me in saying, keep up the good work!
Sincerely,
Martin Schwartz
Albemarle County
P.S. As a professor at the UVa Department of Microbiology, I’ve got a pile of lab notebooks that contain results someone might disagree with. Could your office help me check the calculations?
