An Albemarle County woman pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to growing marijuana at a Scottsville home.
Debra Allyn Morris, 46, admitted in U.S. District Court in Charlottesville that she cultivated more than 50 plants. She faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
“By stopping those individuals who grow illegal drugs, we are cutting off the distribution of drugs at the source,” Julia C. Dudley, acting U.S. attorney, said in a statement.
Michael Lewis Easton, 49, has been charged with three counts of growing 50 or more marijuana plants. A federal jury will hear his case Aug. 11.
Additionally, Easton has been charged with possession of 10 firearms while being an admitted user of marijuana. He faces up to 30 years in prison and a fine of $1.25 million.
