The Charlottesville Redevelopment and Housing Authority will be holding workshops beginning next week to discuss the city’s public housing redevelopment.
The workshops are being held to gather input and suggestions from public housing residents and community members about what changes could be made to the properties. Charlottesville has 11 public housing sites with 376 units, many of which are deteriorating because of age and other issues.
Two workshops will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, at the Westhaven Community Center at 801 Hardy Drive and the South First Street Community Center at 1000 S. First St.
On Tuesday, five meetings will occur:
l 9 to 11 a.m.: Meeting with community stakeholders at CitySpace, located at 100 Fifth St. NE.
l Noon to 2 p.m.: Meeting with youth at the Westhaven Community Center; meeting at the Crescent Hall Community Center at 500 S. First St.
l 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.: Meeting at Burley Middle School at 901 Rose Hill Drive; meeting at Christ Community Church at 329 Riverside Ave.
