210 pot plants discovered in Louisa home

Louisa County authorities say they expect a man will be indicted in July for growing in his home marijuana with an estimated street value of about $633,000.

Maj. Donald A. Lowe of the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office said that police discovered the pot plants after a firefighter and medic went to the suspect’s home June 16 because his smoke alarm had repeatedly gone off.

“It was very impressive. One of the best we’ve ever seen,” Lowe said of the marijuana operation. “He had been doing this for a while.”

There were about 210 marijuana plants in different stages of growth at the Louisa County home, Lowe said, adding that hydroponics and a top-notch lighting and ventilation system were used.

Police have not released the suspect’s name, and the man has not yet been charged. Lowe said that the man is about 30 years old, but declined to say why the suspect had not been arrested.
