Upgrades to disable pair of U.S. 29 signals

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

The Virginia Department of Transportation will upgrade equipment overnight this week at two U.S. 29 intersections, temporarily disabling traffic signals.

On Monday, crews will turn off the traffic light at U.S. 29 and Branchlands Boulevard. On Wednesday, the signals at U.S. 29 and Hydraulic Road will fall dark. The traffic signals will be turned off at 9 p.m. and turned back on before rush hour the next morning.

The intersections will receive new signal controllers and other electronics, weather permitting. VDOT is making the changes as part of a larger electronic upgrade project along U.S. 29 north of Charlottesville. The Branchlands and Hydraulic intersections are the final two scheduled for upgrades.

Albemarle County police officers will be on hand to direct traffic. For more information on traffic conditions, visit www.511Virginia.org.
