Charlottesville Tomorrow and the Charlottesville Community Design Center are unveiling an exhibit today about the Charlottesville-Albemarle water supply.
In the exhibit, “Our Water Our Future,” Charlottesville Tomorrow details the history and goals of the 50-year water plan approved in 2006, along with an analysis by the nonprofit.
The exhibit is based on a six-part online publication produced by Charlottesville Tomorrow, which explores the water supply plan’s costs, environmental advantages and disadvantages, as well as potential alternatives. The exhibit also outlines “the next steps that will move the community forward,” according to Charlottesville Tomorrow.
“We thought an in-depth exhibit featuring our objective research and new 3-D models in Google Earth would help the public and policymakers educate themselves as they consider the community’s next steps,” Charlottesville Tomorrow’s executive director, Brian Wheeler, said in a prepared statement.
Charlottesville Tomorrow covers issues that include water supply, land use, transportation and community design matters and has a partnership with The Daily Progress.
The exhibit will be displayed in the Charlottesville Community Design Center gallery through March 31 and is open to the public during regular gallery hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
An opening reception will take place from 5 to 7:30 tonight at CCDC, with a presentation beginning at 6 p.m. The reception also commemorates Charlottes-ville Tomorrow’s relocation to 100 Fifth St. N.E., next to CCDC.
Throughout March, several public presentations on water-related topics will be hosted at CCDC in conjunction with the exhibit. Visit www.cvilledesign. org for details.
