CINCINNATI — The Bengals added another running back by claiming Cedric Peerman off waivers from the Detroit Lions on Tuesday.
The 5-foot-9, 210-pound halfback was Baltimore’s sixth-round pick last year. He was waived and claimed by Cleveland on Sept. 6. He spent four weeks on the Browns’ practice squad and was released.
Detroit signed him to its practice squad and later promoted him to the roster, although he never carried the ball. The Lions waived him on March 16.
Peerman is one of two former Virginia backs on the Bengals’ roster, joining free-agent signee Mikell Simpson.
Other former Cavaliers to agree to free-agent deals are offensive tackle Will Barker (Cowboys), defensive end Nate Collins (Giants), wide receiver Vic Hall (Bears) and fullback Rashawn Jackson (Panthers). William & Mary quarterback R.J. Archer, a former Albemarle High School standout, agreed to terms with the Vikings.
