Three Woodberry Forest School football recruits are scheduled to attend Virginia’s junior day, where the Cavaliers will host prospects from around the country Saturday.

Linebacker Doug Randolph, quarterback Heys McMath and offensive lineman Phillip Berry will make the short trip to Charlottesville this weekend, with Randolph in particular being a potential recruiting coup for Mike London’s team.

Randolph, the No. 68 player and No. 12 linebacker in the class of 2013 according to Rivals.com, committed to Stanford during his sophomore season, but seems to be willing to at least listen to a pitch from Virginia, which signed its second consecutive top-25 class on Feb. 1.

“Doug is an explosive player who gets off the football,” Woodberry coach Clint Alexander said. “He is very athletic and reacts well to the football. He is also an outstanding pass rusher. He is a key to our game plan each week. He has played corner, safety, OLB, DE and D-line depending on our plan that week. Doug is special.”

McMath, who has received interest from North Carolina and Georgia, among others, is listed at 6-foot-5, 196 pounds and was effective both throwing and running this season. McMath completed 126 of 190 passes for 1,538 yards with 14 passing touchdowns and seven more on the ground.

“Over half of his incompletions were drops,” Alexander said. “Heys has a very strong arm and can put the ball into very tight windows. Heys loves to compete. He is still growing. I expect him to be around 220 pounds his senior season.”

Berry is a 6-foot-5, 291-pounder who played both tackle and guard for the Tigers.

“Phillip started at offensive tackle and we have moved him inside to offensive guard,” Alexander said. “I think this is the best position for him in college. He moves very well and has great feet. He is big, physical, and finishes blocks aggressively. He is still growing into his body but should become a dominant player.”
